About me

I'm Duncan Shea. I've spent more than twenty years helping businesses turn software into working processes, first as a web developer and consultant, then as an operator. I spent eight years at AppFolio, joining as a developer and leaving as a director with a 27-person team and a $15 million P&L. Along the way we migrated 5,500 customer websites to a new platform without downtime and cut customer onboarding from 120 days to under 30.

Since then I've led implementation, customer operations, and partnerships at software companies in real estate, insurance, and AI, always in the messy, human part of software: the place where a product either becomes part of how a team works or quietly gets abandoned. At one company I cut average go-live time from 115 days to 60. At another I built an internal system that read call transcripts and flagged at-risk clients before anyone had to ask. My wife and I also run a small e-commerce business that has shipped more than 8,000 products, so I know the owner's side too: limited time, disconnected tools, and work that always finds its way back to you.

I live in San Clemente with my wife and our two kids. Solomon Shea is the work I've always liked best, done on my own shingle: figuring out what technology can actually do for a business, building it, and staying involved until the team runs with it. Solomon is my wife's family name; Shea is mine.
